Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 2nd Annual American Express Financial Advisors Wine Opener On Friday, September 24, 2004, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held its 2nd Annual Wine Opener at the Third Degree Glass Factory on Delmar. Guest began arriving at 5:30 pm and were treated to live demonstrations of Fire Working & Glass Blowing, Live and Silent Auctions, Music by the World Jazz Quartet and a Wine Presentation. The event featured a selection of diverse wine vendors such as: E&J Gallo, Barefoot, Vito's house wine, Terra Firma USA, Duran Imports, Peaceful Bend Vineyards, Madinger Wine, St. James Winery, Stone Hill Winery, Les Bourgeois Vineyards Inc., Bronco Wine Company, W.J. Deutsch & Sons Ltd., Crown Valley Winery, Charleville Vineyards, Augusta Winery, Montelle Winery, Napa Ridge Winery, Chalone Wine Group. The culinary selections presented equal variety, spotlighting some of St. Louis' favorites like: Breadsmith, St. Louis University Nutrition Department with an emphasis in Culinary, Vito's, Harvest, Monarch Restaurant, Harry's, Ritz Carlton, Hank's Cheesecakes and Candicci's Restaurant & Catering. All showcased their best in dining for party-goers. “We were thrilled to have American Express Financial Advisors as our title sponsor,” said Patti Hoeft, excutive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s St. Louis Chapter, “as well as our presenting sponsor, Cigna Health Care.” Other sponsors supporting the event included Ameristar Casino, Chiron Bio Pharmaceuticals, 106.5 Smooth Jazz and Sauce Magazine. Guests purchased tickets for $40.00 per person. VIP tickets sold for $80.00 per person. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life of those with the disease. Established in 1955, the CFF puts funds to work as efficiently as possible; 90% of all money collected goes to CF research. The Gateway Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Gateway CFF) seeks money in the St. Louis, Missouri Metropolitan area, various locations throughout the state of Missouri, and St. Louis' neighboring counties in Western Illinois. Funds raised by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation support: a network of multidisciplinary research and gene therapy centers at major universities across the United States; research grants for top investigators and fellowships for basic and clinical research; and a nationwide network of more than 110 specialty care centers dedicated to treating CF.
